Cabinet puts forward budget and council tax proposals for 2021/22 - will be voted on by Full Council on 23 February

Cabinet resolved at its meeting on 10 February to put forward its budget for 2021/22 with an increase in council tax of 4.99%. The basic increase of 1.99% stays with the government limit for increases without a referendum and then there is the additional surcharge of 3% to cover the ever escalating costs of adult social care.

Even with this increase, the Council still has to find tens of millions of pounds of savings within its services. Details of the proposals considered by Cabinet can be found on the Council website at Cabinet meeting 10 February 2021.

The final decision on whether or not to approve the budget and council tax rise will be taken by Full Council on 23 February.
