Bus shelters and real time passenger information proposed for Probus, Cornwall Council has secured funding from central government to improve the quality of public transport in the county. With these monies, the Council is rolling out a programme of installing new bus shelters at certain bus stops and, working in partnership with the bus companies, installing real time passenger information systems at the stops. This will mean that passengers waiting for buses will be able to see in real time when the next bus is due. The shelters and systems have already been installed on some routes such as the 14/18 Truro-Redruth-Camborne-Penzance corridor and the programme is now being expanded to include the Truro-St Austell route. The Council has published the specific proposal for Probus where it is proposed to install a shelter in The Square at the stop for Truro-bound buses. The shelter on the other side will remain where it is. Real time passenger information will be installed at both stops. Also, it is proposed to install new bus shelters in Grampound and real time passenger information for stops on both sides of the main road near The Dolphin and in Hewas Water on both sides of the main road near the Merlin Centre. Please let me know what you think The proposals are now open for public consultation. Anyone can give their views to the Council on the proposal and all views will be considered before a final decision is made whether or not to proceed with the project. If you support the scheme, please take the trouble to let me know via the survey, see links below. If you wish to object to the proposal, also, please let me know. Please respond by 21 August.
