Cabinet approves climate emergency action plan aimed to reduce significantly carbon emissions in Cornwall

Cornwall Councillors met at the Full Council on the 22 January 2019, where Councillors debated a significant motion on tackling climate change and voted to support the declaration of a climate change emergency.

Since that meeting in January, officers and members have been working up proposals for how the Council could bring forward proposals to tackle the crisis.

At its meeting on 24 July, Cabinet supported the emerging action plan. Proposals to be developed include planting carbon-absorbing woodlands across the Duchy, powering all new homes in Cornwall with alternative energy sources under a planning shake-up and making energy efficiency improvements to existing Council- owned homes.
