Carland Cross windfarm: repowering programme nears completion

The windfarm at Carland Cross on the A30 has been an iconic landmark for visitors to Cornwall, and for locals, for just over 20 years. One of the first windfarms in the country, its 15 turbines have performed well over that time generating, in total, 280 Gigawatt hours of electricity, enough to power more than 3,000 homes each year.

The 15 turbines have been removed and replaced with 10 larger turbines that will generate more than three times as much power as the old turbines. Some of the new turbines are already operational, and all should be supplying electricity into the grid by July.

For full details of the project, see Scottish Power website.
