Biogas firm makes application for gas grid entry plant at Penans Farm as prelude to anaerobic digester project

A biogas developer, Qila Energy, has submitted a planning application for a project at Penans Farm, Grampound. The initial proposal is for a facility that would enable the injection of methane into the natural gas main pipeline that runs under the site. The proposal can be viewed on the Council's online planning portal and the application number is PA16/04956.

Subsequently, the company will submit an application for an anaerobic digester plant to be built alongside the gas entry plant. The AD plant will take organic materials such as farm slurry from the adjacent farms and, together with some other green products such as maize and grain, and in the process will produce biomethane. This can then be injected into the mains gas grid.
