Grampound Community Shop officially opened by Alex Polizzi

In 2013, the Hollies Store and Post Office in Fore Street, Grampound, sadly closed when the owners retired and they had been unable to find anyone willing to take over the business.

The community decided that it wanted to try to establish a new shop run predominantly by volunteers to provide a local facility for the village. A steering group was formed and a share issue was launched that raised over £20,000. With funding from the Prince's Countryside Trust and from the Grampound Community Fund (monies from the Airvolution wind turbine project), sufficient monies were raised in total to enable the project to proceed.

Two portakabins were installed in the car park by the village hall next to the recreation ground. These were transformed into a smart shop and adjoining coffee shop. The shop opened for business on 1 November 2014, with the official opening being performed by television presenter and hotel/restaurant owner Alex Polizzi on 7 November.

For further details, see the shop website.
