Wind turbine commissioned in Grampound In September 2012, the first wind turbine within the parish of Grampound with Creed was commissioned. It is in a field east of the village north of the reservoir on the redundant highway going up the hill. The turbine is an Endurance E-3120 model with a capacity of approximately 50KW. It is the model of turbine that has proved popular with many farmers across Cornwall. A similar model of turbine is at Treworgans Farm between Probus and Ladock, and at Grogarth Farm near Tregony. More details of the turbine can be viewed on the Endurance website. In late October, the connection to the grid was switched on and the turbine blades started to turn. The turbine can be seen on the top of Grampound Hill across the valley as you drive down the A390 from New Stables towards Grampound. For anyone wishing to view the turbine close up, there is an open session on Saturday 10 November between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Parking is available in the layby and then it is a walk of a few hundred metres across the field. Wellington boots are recommended.
