Cornwall Local Plan is adopted by Full Council on 22 November 2016

The Cornwall Local Plan was formally adopted on 22nd November 2016. It provides a positive and flexible overarching planning policy framework for Cornwall for the period up to 2030.

The plan was submitted to the Secretary of State in February 2015 for examination and the inspector’s report was published in September 2016. The Inspector’s recommended main modifications have been included in the adopted plan.

The Cornwall Local Plan replaces a number of policies from the Local plans of the former District and Borough Councils and the Minerals and Waste Plans of the former County Council.

Adoption of the plan was the culmination of many years of work within the Council and consultations with other parties and residents of Cornwall. It has not been without controversy, e.g. the housing numbers, but it has finally been signed off and will form the basis for determining all future planning applications.

For further information, see Cornwall Local Plan on the Council website.
