Councillors submit motion to remove the Leader of the Council Following the Cabinet's decision to proceed with the process of setting up a Joint Venture with a private sector partner, 42 backbench councillors have submitted a motion to the Council calling for the removal of the Leader. This is in line with the Council's constitution that states that a minimum number of 41 councillors must sign such a motion in order for it to be debated. An Extraordinary Meeting of the Council will be held on Tuesday 16 October in County Hall starting at 10 a.m. It will be open to the public. If the motion is passed, a new leader will be elected at the same meeting.
