Wind turbine proposed for Pittsdown Farm progessing soon

Planning permission was granted in 2014 for a single wind turbine of 500kw capacity on land at Pittsdown Farm. In 2015, an application was submitted for an electricity sub-station to take the power from the turbine (a variation from the original permission) and this was passed by Cornwall Council. Subsequently, the developer submitted the necessary information to discharge the pre-start conditions associated with the planning permissions.

The developer is now intending to proceed with the installation of the turbine.

  • A turbine delivery date of mid-July has been set, so construction is likely to start from mid to late April (starting on the new access track, hardstanding area and turbine foundations).
  • The scheme will be built and operated by AG Renewables.
  • The developer is committed to making an annual contribution of £5,000 for a community fund for the benefit of projects within an area that will include the parishes of Cuby and Tregony, and part of the parish of St Ewe (i.e. within a 4 km radius of the turbine). The developer is in discussions with a charity that will administer the fund (Grantscape) but it may take some months to finalise the details. It is likely to operate in a similar manner to the fund that was established in Grampound for the Garlenick turbines. As an interim measure, in the first year only, the developer will make payments directly to the 3 parishes.
