Government funding secured for construction of Northern Access Road to service Langarth development

In January 2019, the Council agreed to increase its capital programme by £159 million to allow a number of investments to be taken forward at the Langarth site on the north west side of Truro. Part of that capital uplift was to construct a road throughout the development to allow building of homes at various points along the overall site. It was anticipated that funding would come from central government to cover the cost of the road.

In June, government confirmed the award of a Housing Infrastructure Fund grant to Cornwall Council of £47 million for this road.

Cornwall Council is now able to take forward with confidence negotiations with various landowners to enable the project to proceed.

See Northern Access Road graphic showing the road.
