Changes to parish councils ratified by Cornwall Council: Tregony and Cuby parishes to merge, small boundary change between Probus and Grampound

At the Full Council meeting on 3 November, the proposed changes to parishes were ratified. Tregony and Cuby parishes will merge with effect from 1 April 2021 to form a new Tregony with Cuby Parish; the boundary between Probus and Grampound parishes will be moved slightly so that a small number of properties close to Grampound village will become part of Grampound parish; within Grampound with Creed parish, the warding will be abolished so that future parish council elections will encompass the whole parish in one ward.

In the case of Tregony with Cuby Parish, the Council will publish a Reorganisation Order to establish a shadow body that will oversee the transition from the existing parishes that will cease to exist as of 31 March 2021 to the new body of parish councillors that will be elected on 6 May 2021. Those elections will be held across the whole area of Tregony and Cuby and there will be 10 seats on this new parish. It is planned that I, as the Cornwall Councillor for the area, will lead in forming a small group of representatives from both Tregony and Cuby to work together to set in place the framework for the new council, to appoint a parish clerk and to set a precept for the parish.
