Waste: new collection system takes shape

Unfortunately, the new waste collection contract did not get off to a very good start with some items not being collected, boxes and bags not being delivered, garden waste wheelie bins not being delivered in time for the first collection etc.

To have a first hand look at the new system, I joined the recycling collection team in Grampound at 7 a.m. on Friday 13 April and accompanied them around the village. I was impressed with the care that was taken to locate all the bags and boxes and to ensure that none were missed. Hopefully, as the teams get to know the new rounds, things will settle down and residents will be as satisfied with the new system as they were with the old one.
